Refund policy

WHAT can be returned?

We accept returns for most items within 14 days of delivery, provided that:

  • The return request is submitted within 14 days of receiving the final item in the order.
  • The item remains unopened and in its original packaging.
  • The item is in the same condition as when it was received.

Once an item has been opened, it is no longer eligible for return unless it has a manufacturing defect, a major fault under Australian Consumer Law, or is significantly different from its description.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items are considered final sale and cannot be returned:

  • Opened DVD and Blu-ray discs.
  • Trading Card Products, including but not limited to booster packs, booster boxes, starter decks, collection boxes, gift boxes, and similar TCG products, are considered final sale and are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.
  • Any item marked as Final Sale.
  • Any item that has been opened, used, damaged by the customer, or is not in its original packaging.

Packaging Condition

Many of the products we sell are collectible items. While we take reasonable care when packing orders, product packaging may contain minor cosmetic imperfections resulting from manufacturing, handling, warehousing, or transit. Product packaging is intended to protect the product during transit and storage and is not guaranteed to be in mint condition.

Minor cosmetic imperfections to product packaging, including but not limited to dents, creases, scuffs, scratches, corner wear, shelf wear, or minor crushing of external packaging, are not considered defects where the product itself remains unopened, complete, and functional.

Such cosmetic packaging imperfections alone are not grounds for a return, refund, replacement, or exchange where the product itself remains unopened, complete, and functional.

Order Cancellations

Orders for in-stock items may be cancelled at any time before they have been fulfilled and dispatched. Pre-order products are subject to the Pre-Order Policy below.

Once an order has been fulfilled or shipped, it will be subject to the standard return process outlined above.

WHEN do you need to contact us?

The return request must be submitted within 14 days of receiving the final item in the order.

Please email us at information@mjlanime.com.au and provide:

  • Your order number.
  • Details of the item(s) you wish to return.
  • Photographic evidence where applicable.

HOW do you return items?

Once your return request has been approved, we will provide instructions on how to return the item.

Unless the item has a manufacturing defect, a major fault under Australian Consumer Law, or is significantly different from its description, the customer is responsible for all return shipping costs.

We recommend carefully packaging the item to prevent damage during transit, as items damaged during return shipping may not be eligible for a refund.

Return Fees

For change-of-mind returns and other eligible non-fault returns:

  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
  • A restocking fee of 15% of the purchase price will be deducted from the refund amount.

No restocking fee will apply where the item:

  • Has a manufacturing defect.
  • Has a major fault under Australian Consumer Law.
  • Is significantly different from its description.
  • Was incorrectly supplied by MJL Anime.

WHAT happens next?

Once the returned item has been received and inspected, we will assess the return and advise you of the outcome.

Depending on the circumstances, we may provide:

  • A full refund.
  • A partial refund.
  • Store credit.
  • A replacement item.

Approved refunds will be processed as soon as reasonably possible using the original payment method where applicable.

Australian Consumer Law

This Return & Refund Policy is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Pre-Order Policy

Pre-order products are items that have not yet arrived in stock and are purchased in advance to secure allocation from the manufacturer or distributor.

A 30% non-refundable deposit is required at the time a pre-order is placed. This deposit secures the item and allows us to commit to purchasing or allocating stock on the customer's behalf.

The remaining balance will be payable when the item arrives and has been processed through our warehouse.

Pre-order deposits are non-refundable if the customer cancels the order or changes their mind.

Orders for in-stock items may be cancelled prior to fulfilment and dispatch. However, this cancellation policy does not apply to pre-order deposits.

If a pre-order product is cancelled by the manufacturer, distributor, or MJL Anime and we are unable to supply the item, any payments received from the customer will be refunded in full.

Estimated release dates are provided by manufacturers and distributors and are subject to change without notice. Changes to estimated release dates, including delays by the manufacturer or distributor, do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund of the pre-order deposit.
